Old Wulfrunians Sports and Social Club - The Next Chapter

May 2026 marked the beginning of the next chapter for Old Wulfrunians Sports and Social Club, when a new committee took over with a shared ambition: to revitalise the club and create a welcoming space for members, families and the local community.

The new committee consists of five directors: joint chairmen Steve Acton Brown and Phil Plant, accountant Rob Blower, and treasurers Mick Box and Stefan Aleksrandrowicz. Together, they began making plans to modernise the club, starting with the outdated main bar.

Supported by a £20,000 National Lottery grant, the refurbishment has transformed the room. Extensive work included removing the central doors to open up the space, installing new lighting and flooring, and removing the snooker tables. These changes have created a brighter, more inviting setting for members and visitors to enjoy. The club now has two pool tables and a new pool team, bringing fresh opportunities for friendly competition. Two new darts lanes have also been installed, with plans to establish a darts team and expand the club’s sporting activities.

With 10 televisions showing live sporting events, the club is a great place to follow the action and enjoy a drink with friends. We also host monthly live music evenings, bringing people together and adding to the club’s growing social calendar.

We are proud of how far we have come since the new committee took over. These improvements are an investment in the club’s future and the people who make it special.

With renewed energy and more plans ahead, we look forward to welcoming familiar faces and new members as we build the next chapter of Old Wulfrunians Sports and Social Club together.
